Future plans

United Properties has received approval from the Minneapolis School Board to acquire an elementary school site in Minneapolis with plans to redevelop it into an Applewood Pointe senior cooperative. The school project will mark the first time United Properties has built an Applewood Pointe senior cooperative in the city of Minneapolis.

The Minneapolis school location is at Northrop Elementary School, located in the Lake Nokomis neighborhood.

Preliminary project plans, which are subject to Minneapolis City Council approval, call for creating two new buildings with approximately 90 units. This project is being completed in two phases. Phase I construction will start in 2011, and will have 65 homes.

The preliminary building designs and plans for the site incorporates significant feedback from both the neighborhood groups and City Staff.

United Properties’ primary focus will be on developing an urban version of our Applewood Pointe Cooperative. To date, United Properties has developed five senior coops throughout the Twin Cities. Our newest community, Bloomington Southtown was completed in August, 2010, and is over 90% sold out.
